1/2 cup of butter

1/2 teaspoon of active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 cup of chopped walnuts or chestnuts, roasted and ground
1 cup of dark chocolate chips, broken into pieces
For the glaze:
2 1/4 cups of confectioner's sugar, sifted
1 1/2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of sherry wine or Madeira
1 tablespoon of instant coffee
1 1/2 tablespoons of milk
1/2 cup of butter

For the glaze:

2 tablespoons of sherry wine or Madeira
1 tablespoon of instant coffee
1 1/2 tablespoons of milk
In a bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and egg
Add the milk with the sherry wine or Madeira
Mix well
Sift together the flour, instant coffee, active dry yeast, baking soda, and ground cinnamon
Add these sifted ingredients to the mixture and beat until smooth
Add the chopped walnuts and dark chocolate chips
Pour into a greased 25 x 37.5 cm pan
Bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Let cool in the pan
Prepare the glaze: mix all ingredients in a bowl and beat until smooth
Cover with the glaze, and decorate with chopped walnuts and dark chocolate chips if desired
Cut into squares.
