Thaw the pie crust partially
Open and grease the bottom and sides of a 24 cm diameter tart pan
Line with aluminum foil and weigh down with beans for added weight
Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C for about 10-15 minutes
Remove the foil and beans and bake for an additional 10 minutes
Beat the whites until stiff, then spread over the pie crust
Reserve the yolks
Sprinkle the bacon evenly across the bottom of the pie crust
Heat the milk in a medium saucepan
Reduce heat, add the cheddar cheese, and stir until melted
Add salt, black pepper, and onion
Remove from heat and let cool slightly
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Pour into the pie crust
Bake in a moderate oven (180°C) for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Serve warm.
