1/2 cup of sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of orange juice
1 lightly beaten egg yolk
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 tablespoon of grated orange zest
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine

2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
Mix well in a small saucepan the sugar, cornstarch, water, and orange juice
Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, and cook for 5 minutes
Add about 2 tablespoons of this mixture to the lightly beaten egg yolk and whisk vigorously
Pour the egg yolk mixture immediately into the saucepan and cook for an additional 3 minutes, stirring vigorously, until the mixture thickens
Remove from heat and add the lemon juice, grated orange zest, butter or margarine, and mix well
Let cool before covering the cake.
