1 red cabbage, about 1 kg
3 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
4 tablespoons of vinegar
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of black grape gelée
salt and black pepper to taste

Slice the cabbage into thick strips, removing the central part
In a large pan, melt the butter, add the onion and cook for about 3 minutes until it's softened
Add the cabbage, vinegar, and water
Cover and simmer slowly for about 20 minutes or until the cabbage is tender but still firm
Add the gelée, salt, and black pepper
Mix gently
Simmer uncovered over low heat until the cabbage is well coated with the gelée
Serves 4 to 6 people
Serve as a side dish with roasted meats
