1 large red apple (200 g), peeled and cut into 2 cm pieces
1 cup of dried cranberries (200 g)
1 cup of dried black cherry, without pit (180 g)
1/2 cup of nuts (100 g)
2 tablespoons of grated ginger
1/4 cup of sugar (90 g)
1 cup of water (240 ml)
2 medium-sized oranges (350 g), separated into segments, without white pith
1/3 cup of cognac (80 ml - for flambéing)

In a large pan, combine all the ingredients except the orange and cook over high heat, stirring carefully with a wooden spoon, until the mixture boils (approximately 3 minutes)
Reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the fruits are tender (about 15 minutes)
Add the orange and stir carefully
Transfer to a bowl and let it cool
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 2 hours
Flambé with cognac and serve immediately
