Peel the fruits
Separate the piths and remove seeds and peels
Transfer to a bowl. Reserve
Combine water and sugar, bring to a simmer to reduce by three-quarters of its original volume
Add citrus juice and zest
Remove from heat
Pour over the fruits and serve
