3 slices of cooked ham
3 slices of roasted chicken or 150g (5.3 oz) cooked chicken
3 slices of cheddar cheese or similar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
salt and black pepper to taste

Spread butter on two slices of bread
Place a slice of ham, a slice of chicken, and a slice of cheese between them; close with the other slice
Secure the filling so it doesn't fall out of the bread
Beat the egg in a shallow dish and add milk, salt, and black pepper
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine in a skillet
Gently press one sandwich together and dip both sides (one at a time) into the egg wash
Don't soak the sides
Fry one side until golden brown, carefully flip, reduce heat, cover the skillet, and let it cook until the cheese melts and the second side is also golden brown
Make 3 sandwiches.
