Preheat the oven to a moderate temperature (180°C)
Cut the apples in half without peeling them
Remove the seeds and cut the apple halves into 1 cm thick slices
Dress the slices with lemon juice
Mix the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg
Arrange the apple slices in a rectangular baking dish (22 x 29 cm), sprinkling the cinnamon mixture between each layer of apples. Reserve
Mix the brown sugar, butter, flour, and granulated sugar until well combined and has a consistency similar to coarse crumbs
Add the grated coconut
Distribute evenly over the apples in a single layer
Bake for about 50 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender
Serve warm or at room temperature
It can be frozen
