1 pint of vanilla ice cream
6 ripe bananas
1 tablespoon (level) of butter or margarine
1 1/2 tablespoons of dark Karo syrup
zest of half a lime
6 dessert spoons of rum

Peel the bananas and cut them into oval slices
Layer them in a baking dish with a little Karo syrup between each layer
Beat together the butter or margarine, dark Karo syrup, rum, and lime zest, then spread it over the bananas
Bake in a moderate oven for 20 to 30 minutes
Remove from the oven and immediately place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the bananas
Serve immediately
