In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients except the chocolate chip and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, until a slightly thickened mixture forms (13 minutes)
Transfer to a large bowl and let cool
Cover with plastic wrap and freeze until firm (about 2 hours)
In a blender, blend the ice cream until creamy
Add the chocolate chips and mix well
Cover with plastic wrap and freeze until very firm (about 4 hours)
Leave at room temperature to soften slightly (about 15 minutes)
With an ice scoop, distribute the ice cream among eight tart shells and serve immediately
