In a saucepan, place the sugar and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 3 minutes or until caramelized
Add the milk, without stopping to stir, until the caramel dissolves

Remove some of the milk mixture and whisk in the cornstarch
Then add this mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk and cook over medium heat, stirring well, until thickened
Add the nutmeg and cook for another minute
Add the brandy and stir to combine
Topping: In a saucepan, mix together all the ingredients and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until a golden brown crust forms
