Beat the butter and sugar until well combined

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave in 10-second increments, stirring between each interval until smooth

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely

To make the chocolate filling, melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler or in the microwave in 10-second increments, stirring between each interval until smooth

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract

Let the filling cool and thicken slightly before using

Assemble the cake by spreading a layer of chocolate filling on top of the cooled cake, then arranging sliced bananas on top
