2 cups dried figs or black plums

Cook the dried figs or black plums in water until they are soft
Let them cool down
Add salt to taste
Mix together all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, and unsalted butter or margarine in a bowl until a dough forms
Heat the milk until it's warm, then let it cool down
Add the yeast mixture to the dough and mix well
Combine this mixture with the dough, along with the egg and vanilla extract, and knead very well
Divide into 4 parts
Unroll one part at a time on a floured surface, dust with confectioner's sugar, to form a square of 24 cm per side
Cut each square into 4 small squares of 6 cm
Place 1 tablespoon dried figs or black plums in the center of each square, fold over the opposite corners and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a gap of 5 cm between each pastry
Let it rest for 10 minutes
Bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for 20-25 minutes
Remove from the oven and immediately dust with confectioner's sugar
