Place the black beans in a pot with water (about 3 inches above the beans)
Bring to low heat, cover, and simmer until the beans are very tender
Drain and mash with a potato masher

Heat the oil, fry the garlic and add the cumin
When the cumin starts to brown, add the black pepper
Add the black beans to the mixture
and stir in the cassava flour
Stir with a wooden spoon until it comes loose from the bottom of the pot
Season with salt to taste
