1 cup of passion fruit
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of butter or margarine or oil
1 cup of sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
3 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of cloves
1/2 cup of chopped nuts or hazelnuts
1 cup of passion fruit

In a saucepan, combine the passion fruit and water
Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes
Remove from heat and stir in the butter or margarine or oil, mixing well
Let cool until warm
Add the sugar and egg, mixing well
Combine the dry ingredients and add to the passion fruit mixture, beating well
Stir in the nuts or hazelnuts, then spread the batter into a greased 9x23-inch baking dish
Bake at moderate heat (170°C) for 12 minutes or until golden brown
Let cool, then cut into bars
Dust with confectioner's sugar, then serve as desired.
