Check if they're cooked through, remove from the dish and drain
Reserve 1/2 cup of the water
In a small bowl with a lid, combine sugar and butter and cook in the microwave on high for 3 minutes, or until caramelized
Stir occasionally
Mix well during this time
Add the reserved water and cook for an additional 3 minutes
Mix well to ensure the sugar dissolves evenly
Combine the sweet potatoes and cook covered for an additional 3 minutes in the same microwave setting
Let it cool and serve at room temperature
