In a mixer, cream the butter or margarine with the sugar until light and fluffy
Add the egg, orange zest, and juice
Mix well
Combine the flour and baking soda
Add to the creamed mixture and mix well
Add the pecans or hazelnuts and mix again
Form rolls about 3 cm in diameter and cut into slices 0.5 cm thick
Place on a greased baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are golden
Let cool and store in closed jars
Note: If desired, prepare the dough ahead of time by wrapping the rolls with plastic wrap (Rolopack or Magipack) or aluminum foil and storing in the refrigerator or freezer
Cut into slices and bake without needing to thaw
Cut into wedges and serve without needing to thaw
