Mix the milk, butter or margarine, salt, and rice, let it cook over low heat with a covered pot until the liquid is absorbed
Beat the eggs, add sugar, vanilla, and rum, then mix in the cooked rice
Grease a 9x13 inch pan and pour in the mixture
Place a hot water bath in the oven and put the pan on top, baking (in a bain-marie) for about an hour or until set
Let it cool slightly, remove from the mold, and place on a platter
Cover with chocolate glaze, garnish with cherries (or gumdrops), and serve with chocolate sauce.
