2 cups of wheat flour
1 tablespoon of active dry yeast
1 pinch of salt
1 pinch of nutmeg
1 1/2 cups of golden raisins without seeds
3/4 cup of mixed candied fruits cut into small pieces
3/4 cup of dark brown sugar without seeds
1/4 cup of maraschino cherries cut in half
3/4 cup of unsalted butter at room temperature
2/3 cup of brandy or other liquor
3 large eggs
2 cups of wheat flour
1 tablespoon of active dry yeast
1 pinch of salt

Preheat the oven to a moderate temperature (170°C)
Grease a 22 cm diameter mold with some holes in the middle
Reserve 2 tablespoons of wheat flour
Sift the remaining flour with yeast, salt, and nutmeg
Set aside
In a bowl, mix together the raisins, candied fruits, cherries, and 2 tablespoons of wheat flour
In a large bowl, cream together the butter or margarine and brandy or other liquor
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Add the flour with yeast gradually, mixing very well
Combine the fruits and mix well
Pour into the prepared mold and smooth the surface with a spatula
Bake for about an hour or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Let it cool for 15 minutes
Remove from the mold
Let it cool completely
Serves 12 people.
