In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over high heat
Add the onion and cook for about 2 minutes
Add the mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly
Add the port wine, salt, and pepper
Reduce the heat and simmer for another minute
Add the heavy cream and maintain low heat until heated through
Turn off the heat and check the seasoning
Set aside
In a skillet over high heat, melt the remaining butter and cook the bread
Sprinkle the reserved mushrooms with parsley and serve hot over the fried bread slices
