Crostini are small cubes of bread, toasted or fried, served with salads, soups, scrambled eggs, and meat stews. They can be prepared three ways:
Toasted: Cut into 0.5 cm thick slices from a pork loin or French roll, and toast in the morning. Place on a baking sheet and bake, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.
Fried in oil: Fry the bread cubes in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Fried in butter: Melt a bit of butter in a large skillet, add the bread cubes, and fry, stirring constantly, until golden brown and crispy.
