2 cups of black plums
1/2 cup of cooking liquid from black plums
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup of boiling water
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/3 cup of cold water
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 cups of black plums
1/2 cup of cooking liquid from black plums

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
Cook the black plums in sufficient water to cover them for 10 minutes
Reserve the cooking liquid
Remove the plums
Process the plums in a blender or food processor
Add the 1/2 cup of reserved cooking liquid, cinnamon, and boiling water
Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes
Dissolve the cornstarch in cold water
Add to the pan
Cook, stirring constantly until thickened
Cook for an additional 5 minutes
Remove from heat
Add lemon juice
Chill in refrigerator
Serve with whipped cream or chantilly
