Combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and dark chocolate in a saucepan
Add the milk gradually, stirring with a spoon
Bring to a simmer over medium heat, whisking constantly until it thickens
Reduce the heat and let cook for an additional minute
Beat the egg white lightly with a fork in a separate bowl
Remove 2 tablespoons of the milk and chocolate mixture and add to the egg white
Pour into the saucepan
Bring back to a simmer and let cook for 1 minute
Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla
Let cool, stirring occasionally
Pour into individual serving dishes and refrigerate
Serve chilled.
