Welsh-Style Burgers

  • 1

If preparing burgers, mix the beef lightly with salt and pepper to form 4 equal-sized patties. Fry the onion, carrot, bell pepper, and celery in a pan for 2 or 3 minutes. Mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water in a bowl. Place the remaining water with vinegar and sugar in a saucepan. Let it simmer. Add the pickles, diluted cornstarch, pepper mixture, and let it simmer again, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened, for about 1 minute more or less. Melt the butter in a skillet and fry the burgers to desired doneness. Place each burger on a plate and top with a little sauce. Close with the other half of the bun and serve the remaining sauce separately.
