Heat the mixture, in a saucepan, over medium heat, with the egg whites, water, and Karo crystals
Beat the egg whites until fluffy
When the mixture becomes thick, pour it, hot, over the beaten egg whites, beating continuously
When it starts to set, add small dollops of meringue, like puffs of smoke, and bake.
