1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup vegetable shortening
1 egg lightly beaten
1 tablespoon vinegar
In a bowl, combine the flour, butter, and salt
Add the shortening in small pieces and mix well
In a separate part, beat the egg together with the vinegar and sprinkle this mixture over the flour mixture, mixing carefully until it is evenly moistened
Make a ball with the dough and refrigerate it until it becomes very cold
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and line 2 tart pans with a diameter of 9.5 inches
Decorate the edges to your taste and pierce the entire dough
To prevent the dough from drying out, cover the pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil and fill it with rice or beans
Place the dough in a hot oven for 8 to 10 minutes
Remove the rice or beans and store it in a container to reuse when making another tart
Return the dough to the oven until it is completely toasted.
