Peel the green beans and cook them in boiling salted water
After about 20 minutes, when the green beans are tender, add the chopped cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and celery
Simmer for another 40 minutes and then add the macaroni (or rice)
Blend the bacon, parsley, thyme, and grated cheese together, diluting it with some broth
Pour the blended mixture into the minestrone and season to taste with a pinch of pepper.
