Heat the mixture over low heat in a double boiler, stirring constantly, until it thickens for about 20 minutes
Remove from heat
Add the liqueur and stir well
This sauce should be served warm, but it can be stored in the refrigerator for several weeks
Serve with puddings, ice cream, or pancake fillings
