1 1/2 cups of wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons of active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of mustard
1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes or to taste
4 tablespoons of softened butter or margarine cut into small pieces
1 cup of grated cheese (Gouda, Italian, or Minas Meia Cura cream cheese)
5 tablespoons of cold water

Preheat the oven to a moderate temperature (180°C)
Gently grease two baking sheets
Mix well together the flour, yeast, salt, mustard, and red pepper flakes
Add the butter or margarine and mix until a coarse crumb forms
Add the cheese and mix until well combined
Dampen with water and mix with a fork to moisten
Briefly knead to form a ball
Divide into two parts
Unfold each part on a lightly floured surface to form a rectangle about 30 x 15 cm
With a pastry wheel, cut strips of 1 cm thickness in the direction of width
Gently twist each strip and place them on prepared baking sheets
Bake for about 16 minutes or until golden brown
Let cool for 3 minutes
Remove from baking sheet and let cool completely
Store in an airtight container
Yield: 45 units.
