2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour

Place 1 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour in a bowl and add the buttermilk, salt, baking soda, and melted butter or margarine
Mix until smooth
Add enough flour to obtain a firm dough
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for a few minutes
Preheat the oven to moderate temperature (170°F)
Roll out the dough very thinly
Cut into small rectangles
Place in a greased baking dish and puncture with a fork
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden
Remove from baking dish and let cool
Cut into 6 braids of 30 cm diameter each.
