Grease a baking dish with butter and arrange the sliced bread, side by side, half of it
Beat in a blender the cheese, eggs, milk, mustard, onion, salt, and black pepper until the mixture is homogeneous
Spread half of the cheese mixture over the bread
Cover with the remaining bread and top with the remaining cheese mixture
Let it rest for 1 hour
Preheat the oven to medium temperature
Bake the sandwiches until they are firm
Serve immediately.
