Place the beef in a pot with water and cook until it's tender
Grate the carrots coarsely and add them to the beef, along with the turnip, onion, tomato extract, and vinegar
Add four cups of water
Cover and cook until the vegetables are cooked and the soup is thick
Season to taste and serve hot, with a dollop of sour cream if desired
Serves eight people.
