In a saucepan, beat the eggs with 3/4 cup granulated sugar until stiff and light in color
Add the milk, vanilla extract, and bring to low heat
Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened but not boiling
Let cool
Place in the freezer for about 2 hours or until firm
Beat heavy cream until whipped
Add 1/4 cup granulated sugar, maraschino cherry liqueur, orange zest, and sliced almonds
Refrigerate
Place a decorative mold on top of the whipped cream, high
When chilled, cover the base and sides with the egg mixture
In the center, place the whipped cream and cherry mixture
Cover with plastic wrap
Freeze until firm
To unmold, place the mold in hot water or hold it over a flame and turn onto a round plate
Cut like a cake
Serve 6 to 8 portions
