2 cups of rice cereal or corn flakes
Two tablespoons of butter or margarine
One cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
One tablespoon of unflavored gelatin
One-half cup of sugar
One-eighth teaspoon of salt
Three egg yolks separated
One cup of milk
One tablespoon of vanilla extract
One cup of whipped cream
One-half cup of maraschino strawberries, pitted and chopped
One-half cup of crushed pineapple (optional)
Dark chocolate shavings
2 cups of rice cereal or corn flakes

Gently mix the cereal
Melt the butter and chocolate together over hot water but not boiling
Remove from heat, add rice cereal, and mix until well coated
Press evenly into a greased 20 cm springform pan
Let it cool in a fresh place to set
Mix gelatin, sugar, salt, and 1/4 cup of milk; soak in warm water
Beat egg yolks and milk together; add to gelatin mixture
Cook over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly until gelatin is dissolved
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract
Chill in the refrigerator until thick like syrup
Beat egg whites until foamy; add remaining sugar and beat until stiff
Beat heavy cream until stiff
Fold in egg whites, whipped cream, and maraschino strawberries into gelatin mixture
Place in springform pan; sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings
Chill for 3 hours to set
