In a pan, lightly brown the onion in the butter
Add the flour and cook until it browns, stirring well
Add the broth and tomato puree
Stir until the sauce thickens and continue cooking until it reduces to about 1 cup
Season to taste
Add the wine and heat, but do not let it boil, so as not to lose the flavor of the wine
This amount of sauce is sufficient for 4 servings.
